Sakura Association was  established in September, 2000 as a non-sectarian, non-profit organization for Japanese-speaking people and their families in the Washington, DC metropolitan area .  We are taking action to support one another through a wide variety of activities for both temporary and permanent residents of the United States.  We also seek to develop friendships and cultural interactions within local communities.  The three pillars of Sakura Association's activities are as follows:

  • Cross-cultural education for children

  • Senior Life in the different culture

  • Cultural exchange in the local communities

Sakura Association provides  rental-free loan of Japanese books to our members.  Currently, 3000 Japanese books are available in our library. We also  offer seminars, concerts, nursing home visitations, an annual bazaar, and various many events.

One of our main goals is to build a "Japanese Nursing Home" where Japanese-speaking seniors have an environment in which speak their native language and eat Japanese cuisine.

Sakura Association welcomes YOU to join in our activities, so that, together, we can play an integral role in the development of our communities in the Washington, DC area.
